what's in a name?

a couple of days ago in one of my pre-ap classes, my students were working on a probability circuit. they're walking around the room working problems. it's chaos, but everyone's engaged. i'm standing in the middle of the room waiting to see if anyone needs help. there's a group of students standing off to the side working together. one of them is having issues with a problem. one of the kids standing next to him says, "why don't you go ask miss crazy?" miss crazy?! he was referring to me! obviously, he did not know i was stand there and was quite shocked when i said, "excuse me!" i was in such shock that i could barely speak. me...miss crazy!

that's not even the worst of it. we were all at home the other night enjoying a fire and taking turns scratching each others' backs. jacob constantly says he has mosquito bites that itch. i don't know where he's getting all the mosquitos. anyway, it's his turn to scratch mine. i'm sitting up, kinda hunched over. he's scratching my back and innocently says, "momma, your back is almost like the brown hulk's!" the brown hulk's?!
so, in the past week, i've now been labled miss crazy and the brown hulk.

what happened to just plain ol' mrs. ramirez...or momma?!
